10 Awesome Body Care Products You Need This Summer

So this is the part 2 of this post, you can find part 1 on Zoe’s blog here so if you haven’t seen it yet pop over and give it a read because she talks about some lovely summer products in it!

6. Avon Foot works Health Rough Skin Remover

Just as with Zoe’s pick of the Body Shop Intensive Foot Rescue, I love Avon Foot Works products. This one never fails to leave my feet feeling smooth and in the summer when you’re wearing flip-flops 99% of the time the last thing you want to worry about is dry cracked skin on your feet. I have been using Avon Foot Works products for a while now and I still love them the same as when I first used them. It also has an amazing minty smell and leaves you feeling refreshed.

7.  No7 Beautiful Skin Blissful Body Wash

I got this at Christmas in a lovely bundle from my mum and this is the body wash I use when I’m having a shower but want a little bit of luxury. This is so soft on my skin it’s unbelievable. That’s why I think it’s a good product for summer because if you’ve been out all day walking or just sunbathing it replenishes the moisture in your skin and the scent leaves you feeling so relaxed.

8. Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Butter Souffle

This is one of those products that I can’t describe how lovely it is to use. If there’s one scent I could smell all day it would be from this tub. It smells deliciously fruity and is perfect for summer. Although this is a thick body butter I love putting it on after a shower as it only takes the the smallest amount and leaves my skin feeling amazing.

9. Perspirex Comfort Antiperspirant Roll-on*

I’m not usually a roll-on kinda girl but I was sent this to review after getting in touch with Perspirex. I have a very busy summer this year and what attracted me to this type of product is that you only need to apply it every 3-5 days. You may be thinking ‘What???!’ but it’s not as bad as it sounds at all. When I went camping last month this was a lift saver. it’s a lot smaller than my usual spray on bottle so was easier to take along with me. What I noticed with this is that even after three days, including showering everyday there was no smell – I even had my boyfriend and friends sniffing me to check! The only thing I’m not so keen on is that this does take a little while to dry and it does recommend putting on at night but sometimes it’s not practical for me to do that. This is definitely worth a go though!

10. Gillette Venus Razor

I have always used the Gillette Venus razor and have never had any problems with my skin afterwards. There’s not a lot more to say about this one other than that it’s easy to use and leaves your skin smooth every time. The refills do work out expensive over time but if waxing isn’t your thing these are brilliant to use.

Let me know what you’re top summer products are!

*Products labelled with an asterisk have been sent to me to review but all opinions remain my own.

Empties #1

I thought it was about time that I wrote about some products empties that I have been collecting over the last couple of months. I love reading these kind of posts and watching them on Youtube because the fact that someone has finished a product suggests that it is liked and in a way the strongest recommendation you could give someone. I have a mixture of items I have been saving up, let me know if you have tried any of these bits in the comments!

The first item I have been really loving is the Whipped Clean Shower Butter by Soap & Glory. I love using this in the evenings when I have a shower because it’s so buttery and the formula of the product just leaves my skin so smooth and moisturised. The scent is pretty strong as with all Soap & Glory products but it leaves my skin smelling so nice and not at all over powering. It actually took me a little while to get through this mainly because I don’t use it every time I get a shower, only when I feel like my skin needs it.

The next one is also a shower gel. This is something that I got in a beauty box and really enjoyed using this. It’s the Dao Foaming Shower Gel by RitualsThis smells delicious and is really lovely and calming and because it foams as it comes out it’s so soft on my skin. I used this a lot when I was in a rush but still wanted a bit more of a relaxing shower.

Now on to hair. The Umberto Giannini Frizzi Recovery MaskMy hair never feels as good when I don’t use this conditioner. This was actually given to me by my boyfriends mum because she didn’t like it… well I can’t like it enough. When I looked it up and saw that it was only £6.00 I couldn’t resist buying it for myself! I have long hair and it can often feel a bit straw-like if I don’t look after it and I find that when I use this once a week it keeps my hair in much better condition. I normally only put it on the ends of my hair and tie it up whilst I shower. It smells amazing too and even if you have good hair I would still recommend using this.

A foundation that I have finished recently is the Rimmel Match PerfectionThis is one of my all time favourite foundations and my everyday go-to. It sits really nicely on my skin and I find the Ivory 100 is such a good colour match for me. It also has SPF 20 which I always look for in base products that I’m putting on my skin especially as it’s getting closer to summer. I actually haven’t repurchased this yet but only because I have so many other ones I want to finish first because I know if I buy this I will only use this!

IMG_0164 (2)

Finally the last product it the No7 Beautiful skin Day Cream. I love all things No7 and this is my everyday moisturiser for my face. It never leaves my skin feeling greasy or sticky and I can just apply my makeup straight after putting this on which no problems. This has SPF 15 and 5*UVA protection. This little pot literally lasts months! I bought a few things when there was a 3 for 2 and I feel like it could potentially be a lifetime supply! For me this is something I know I can rely on even when I have problems with my skin it’s always gentle.

Let me know if you have tried any of these and what you thought about them! Have you repurchased any?

My Miracle Moisturisers

This is the final part of my three-part blog posts to do with skincare. There are only two products I am talking about here as this is something that I don’t really like mixing up purely because I know what already works well for me on this front. Both items are drugstore and good value for money. If you haven’t seen my other posts find part one here and part two here.

I’m really glad that I wrote this little trilogy because it really made me review what is actually working on my skin and what I am using just to use or just because I like the scent which is pretty silly when you think about it!

The first one I am going to talk about is one I actually can’t talk about enough because I simply love it. When my skin was awful from my illnesses and really dragging me down I started using this and my weird dry patches over my cheeks, nose and neck visibly cleared up in under 2 weeks which is amazing considering I had tried every prescription cream going and the pharmacy had really run out of answers. What cream is this you ask? It’s the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Normal/Dry skin.

I have spoken about this before but not for a while and this has got to be my one item that if I was stuck on an island I would take! It is quite a thick day cream but I think this is really good for my skin because it keeps it moisturised all day long without me having to worry about getting dreaded dry flaky skin by lunch time. I use this every morning and put it all over my face including my under eyes and neck and it always works lovely. What I love about No7 too is that they are always  on 3 for 2.

The next one I have been really making an effort to use is the  Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream that I picked up with the hot cleanser from the same range. The reason I say making an effort is because I don’t normally have overly sensitive skin and I usually love Superdrug own brand items but I came out in the worst rash ever after using the hot cloth cleanser which I am so gutted about and it made be really dubious to use the night cream as well but so far all is well.

If you haven’t tried anything from this range before the only way I can describe the beautiful scent of this is like summer. It’s got a very strong coconut smell which I normally don’t like but in the evening I have been really  massaging this into my skin after cleansing. This isn’t actually my favourite night cream but I ran out of my No7 one and  I bought this and it’s ok so I don’t want to waste it just  for the sake of it.

Edited Copy 2

As with a lot of skincare creams you really only need the smallest amount and as it’s the same with this one because it’s quite watery especially compared to the No7 one I am used to but it does absorb quite nicely and leaves my face feeling nicely refreshed.

Have you come across any moiturisers that have changed your skincare routine?  I would be really interested because I feel like it would be hard to convince me to move away from No7 ones!

My Great Cleansing Conundrum

Read on at your own risk… this is a mammoth post!

This is going to be a mini series of three posts – cleansers, facial oils and moisturisers. I love looking after my skin and it’s one of the things I most look forward to doing in my day. If you’re not a regular reader I have very dry and blemished skin so I am always striving to find something that will nourish my skin.

I cleanse my face in the morning before I put my makeup on and again at night before I go to bed. I have recently been trying to widen my skincare routine product range because I feel like sometimes this might be the reason my skin goes through bad spells. I used to be one of those types of people that once I was happy with a product I was set up for life (this would have previously been No7 which I still love) but I have actually been really enjoying mixing things up.

If you’re unsure of brands to use I would really recommend signing up to a monthly subscription beauty box this has really helped my because and there have been a surprising amount of products in them from amazing brands I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I also love receiving these because sometimes there are real luxury products that I can’t justify spending money on and this is a brilliant opportunity to try some of the more expensive brands. Ones that I would recommend would be GlossyBox or LookFantastic, with these you can choose a plan that suits you and you receive a mixture of skincare, hair products and makeup.

After years of being an avid lover of all No7 skincare I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and try different things. I mean what’s the point in buying all these amazing beauty boxes and giving half of it away! Here’s three new cleansers I’m really into lately.

A new one I have been loving for the past three weeks is the Miracle Cleanser by Aurelia. I must admit after I looked up their website and saw their prices I have been using this more sparingly because I don’t want to waste any so I have managed to make it last quite well. This is one of the best cleansers I have ever used in my life. You can certainly tell it’s a pricey product just by the packaging. I use this in the morning only and I feel like this has actually worked really well with my skin though to the point that I am actually going to buy a couple of their bits when I have finished this one. I am in love with the scent of this little beauty which is lovely because all their products are ‘free from’ in some way and use as many natural ingredients as possible and I think that this is possibly why it has been getting on with my skin so well. This sample also came with a bamboo muslin cloth as well so I have been using that with the cleanser.

Another cleanser I have been using again is Clinique’s Liquid facial soap. Although there’s not much for me to say about this one, I love using this when I’m in a hurry or when I’m doing a second cleanse. It smells so lovely and fresh, is for dry/combination skin and I find it always lifts all the days dirt away. In my opinion this product is pretty basic cleanser and does it’s job but it’s not like a pampering cleanser it’s more of an everyday item.

The final cleanser I have been enjoying on the odd evening recently is the Murad Exfoliating Cleanser. I do this when I am having a bit more of a pamper evening to really get into my skin and lift out anything that shouldn’t be there. One thing I noticed is how gentle this is on my skin and how it preps it to better absorb facial oils and night moisturisers. There is virtually no scent to this product which is fine for me as I use other scented products afterwards anyway.

That’s a round up of the new cleansers I have been using over the past month. Let me know if you mix up your routine or only stick to what you know!

Mini Face Mask Reviews

If there’s one thing I love during a pamper session it would have to be face masks, closely followed by body scrubs.

I love mixing up my face masks just because I use different ones on different days and I vary them depending on how my skin is. I have really dry skin on my face which is sometimes all over or in very concentrated patches which can be embarrassing when your face starts going disgustingly crusty by mid-day. I tend to do moisturising masks mostly with deep cleansing ones once or twice a week. these reviews are in no particular order and there will be a second part because I don’t want to bore you for too long!

No7 Beautiful Skin Purifying Mask

WP_20160309_20_06_53_Pro (2)

I literally love everything No7 and when I first picked this up I was so excited to try it. No7 are one of the only brands that actually get rid of my dryness around my face and neck area so I had great expectations for this especially as this is a warming mask which I normally love. However, I was really disappointed by this mask as it was so drying and left my skin feeling as if everything had been sucked out of it. One thing I must mention is that every time you use it really shake it up for a couple of minutes because otherwise it comes out liquidy at first. I feel like this might be better for someone with oily skin as it just really didn’t work for me which could be down to my skin type but I’m not sure.

Good Things Five Minute Facial – with Superfruit extracts Avoccado and Goji Berry  WP_20160309_20_05_56_Pro (2)

My sister got me this and I tried it the same day she gave it to me and it was seriously so lovely to use. It says it’s free from parabens, mineral oils and animal ingredients which I really like too. This is a real does what it says on the tin product and would be really good to use if you are in a rush but still want to do a face mask. The texture of this is quite a lot thinner than other masks and when applying it almost feels like a cream but begins drying really quickly. This smells so good and it was really refreshing and minimal mess which I always like and my skin felt so soft and looked revived too. I will definitely be purchasing this when it’s ran out.

Superdrug Hydrating Moisture Mask

WP_20160309_20_04_57_Pro (2)

As you know by now my skin is dryer than a desert so anything that adds moisture is always going to be something I am on the look out for. I picked up three different ones of these masks as they were only about £2.00 and I knew I usually love Superdrug products. I have used this a few times and I like it but I must admit its not my favourite. This isn’t one that is meant to be washed off but the packaging advises that you ‘pat remaining residue with a tissue’. I think this was just something I expected to really sink into my skin and it just didn’t, it just sat on my skin and felt like a film which is not a nice feeling. I will probably use it up so it doesn’t go to waste and it hasn’t caused any break outs or anything but I doubt I will be buying this again.

Superdrug De-Stressing Aloe Vera Mud Mask

WP_20160309_20_03_38_Pro (2)

I picked this one up along with the mask mentioned above and one of the reasons I wanted this was because it has aloe vera. My mum uses aloe vera for everything –  burns, bruises, bites, rashes, dry skin. Although this is for normal to combination skin I got on with this really well and really enjoy using it. I love the way it feels when it’s on and so far every time I have used it afterwards it has made my skin feel so lovely. The scent of this is so relaxing and is lovey in general.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these masks before and what you think of them! Part 2 to follow soon!

No7 Single Eye Shadow

I have been waiting to upload this post until I could get a decent shot of me actually wearing it! So today I am writing about the Stay Perfect eye shadow from the Cappuccino Trio. I don’t know what it is, but for a little while now I have been drawn towards these beautiful shimmering, glittery shadows. I mainly wear this for evenings out as it’s a lovely glam gold shade and I think it’s more evening-friendly than for day-time wear.

This honestly is a ‘does what it says on the tin’ prodcut as it really does stay. I wore this the other night to a meal with friends and it was so hot in there and we were there for around 4 hours; Some of the other cheaper eye shadows I have might have creased and move on my face but this really stuck to my lids so nicely.

WP_20160207_11_28_57_Pro (2)

As it’s so pigmented it applies really easily and the shimmer in it adds to the glam,I sometimes even just wear this by itself when I can’t be bothered to put effort in or dont have time.

I don’t remember where I got this single shadow from but the trio is such a good price at just £9.50. I love no7 because they feel like my higher end products without the price which has always got to be a bonus!

What other shimmery eye shadows can you recommend?

My Skincare Routine

No7 Balm, day cream and night cream blog post 1

My skincare routine is one of the most important things in my everyday life. It’s not something I change or mix up too often either and ever since I really developed a ‘routine’ I have always used No7 products. I discovered these when I received a gift set for Christmas a couple of years and I generally feel No7 is a range that is so underrated for what you can get. Even though in the UK you can only buy it in Boots, lets be honest – Boots is everywhere so it’s not really a problem!

Balm and Muslin Cloth

Wash balm swatch

So to start. Every morning I use the No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm in Dry/Very Dry. I suffer with dry patches on my face and I use this product with a muslin cloth to gently exfoliate which I love doing in the morning before I put my make up on so I know I’m not putting it on top of ‘old’ skin. I use a dollop of this and rub it into my face and neck in circles to make sure I get everywhere. This is normally £9.50 in Boots stores and online, they also have a lot of offers with 3 for 2 on these as well as money off vouchers. I also find that it seems to last FOREVER, I use this a lot and I don’t seem to have to buy it very often so in my opinion it’s good value for money.

Night Cream

After I have washed my face I use the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream in Normal/Dry this is also spf 15 which is always a bonus and it just rubs into my skin so nicely. It never feels like it’s sitting on my face or anything icky. In the evenings I use the No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream in Normal/Dry. This cream is obviously thicker but it’s not so heavy that it feels caked on and seems to absorb in quite quickly but you still need to use less than the day cream. These creams are generally around £13.50 each in Boots and online but as the cleansing balm these last for ages as well as you only need to use a teeny tiny bit each time.

That’s a wrap for my everyday basic skincare routine. If you use No7 or have any other skincare basics let me know your tips!
