Kiko Wanderlust Special Edition

I can’t believe how long it has actually taken me to write this up but here it finally is at long last! Firstly I am going to apologise. If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that Kiko are one of my main makeup items that I use on a day to day basis. When I got an email saying they are releasing a special edition collection I just had to see what it was all about and purchase some of their new bits! It has the best name too – Wanderlust Collection.

Firstly, can we just appreciate the packaging. How amazing is it?! I love that it’s textured and its such a lovely gold colour it really makes it feel like a high end product when it’s so reasonably priced. Even though this collection is more expensive than Kiko’s normal products everything is still very cheap considering the quality of the products and that it is a special edition.  I’m so glad I decided on a lipstick because it’s so beautiful. It sounds ridiculous I know but that’s really how I feel!

Let’s talk about they eye shadow stick, this is the Butter and Taupe one. I got this one because I generally prefer more natural colours and know that I will get more use out of it. I found this so buttery and creamy it’s so lovely to apply. You hardly have to work it to get any colour at all because of it’s texture and it’s super pigmented. I love that you also get the kajal on the other side because it’s like an all in one purpose product. This is also brilliant for me because it’s a pencil it just makes it so much easier for me to apply and sometimes when I’m being lazy I really like just being able to use this. I would really recommend this if you too have days where you’re in a rush or don’t want to use loads of products this is pretty ideal.

The other product from this collection I bought is the Mirage Lip Stylo in the shade Bohemian Sienna. I love, love,  LOVE this so much. Some of my favourite lipsticks are by Kiko so I was ridiculously excited to try this one out. I’ve gone for a darker shade than I normally do because I want to be a bit more adventurous and think this will actually be really lovely in the summer. This lipstick is so comfortable to wear and feels almost like like a balm in texture so it’s super hydrating. The colour is really even when applying this on the lips and you don’t need to go over and over it to get a good colour. I personally think the lipstick has a really nice sheen to it which is one of the reasons I think it will be lovely to wear during the summer months.

As you can tell I am once again in love with Kiko. This collection is amazing and I’m hoping to get my hands on some of the face products from the Wanderlust range because they look simple amazing!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of this collection and if there are any other bits I must have!

Intensely Rose Kiko Lipstick

I love Kiko. Anyone who’s been here before will know that I am massively in love with the majority of their items and I have never been disappointed by them. In this post I am going to be writing about one of their Smart Lipsticks that I bought in a hail recently whilst shopping in Westfield, Stratford. I feel like Kiko are one of these amazing brands that always have such good sales regularly and I’m sure I got this in one of their 5 items for £10 sales.

As most Kiko products do, this one also came in a simple black box which I like because it makes it feel like a high-end product. The actual casing is also in a textured matte black plastic shell but quite a sturdy plastic that makes it feel nice and sleek.

The lipstick I got is in the colour Intense Rose and this is honestly one of my favourite lipsticks right now, it’s such a pretty Spring shade. For me this colour is so wearable for not only day time but evening too. It’s a lovely rosey colour so Kiko really chose the name perfectly. The thing about this as well is that it isn’t too pink it literally is just the right amount of pink especially if you’re not too adventurous like me.

My first impressions of this were really good. I’m quite fussy with what I put on my lips because I don’t like a lot of textures that are too sticky or too drying or even too creamy. However the first time I wore it I hardly even remembered that I was wearing it which is brilliant because it felt so natural on my lips.

I have been really enjoying wearing this lipstick and look forward to wearing it many more times and trying out more of their colours.

What are your Spring lipsticks that you’re loving right now?

Blush

As Spring is finally here I thought it would be good to go through my blushers and see what ones I haven’t used in a while. This post will be about the ones that survived the clear out. I always go for quite peachy pinks because I love that natural flushed look. Without me rambling anymore please see below my much loved blush collection.

I always love wearing blusher and even more so now that it’s Spring time! As you can see above I love powder blushers, it’s like a safe zone for me. Keep reading for more in depth thoughts on some of my blushers.

Lets start with my favourite ever blush, the Kiko Milano Rebel Bouncy Blush in 02 Adorable Pink – and this is exactly what it says, adorable. I have been using it almost every day since I bought it about 2 months ago and featured in my Kiko Milano Spree post as well as my Before and After Makeup post. I honestly can’t rave about this enough, not only is it my favourite blush but I am going to admit it’s my favourite makeup product of all time and not to mention, the packaging it just beautiful. The colour is an amazing coral pink that applies so nicely to my cheeks.

Before I bought anything Kiko, I used to use Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush because I just love sweeping it over my cheeks to give them a bit more colour and it doesn’t have to be packed on and it just lovely to use because the pigmentation is brilliant and by brush picks it up really easily which I like when I’m in a hurry.

Another goodie I have written about before is also one of my favourite face products which is the Golden Sugar Blush palette this is such a bargain for what you get and I always find myself using at least three of the different shades when I get this palette out. The colours all just work so well together I’m never disappointed with the outcome. As I love this so much I decided to also pick up one of the individual blushers and it was £1.00, you really can’t get much better than that and it’s really nice and compact so really nice for travelling.

One that I have been using and loving the past week is the Givenchy Le prisme Blush which now Spring is here is fast becoming one of my treasured blushers. All the colours blend so well together or sometimes I use my finger to get one or two colours and it sweeps on like silk on your skin but this is one of the more expensive ones but so worth it.

The packaging it so lovely and sleek I love putting this in my bag as it has a brush and a mirror so I don’t have to worry at all during the day. With this you really get the quality along with the price.

So that’s a round up of my blushers and some of the beautiful products I will be using this Spring. Let me know what Spring makeup bits you’re using and if any are worth me picking up!

Before and After Makeup

I haven’t really posted any pictures of me with makeup on so I thought maybe it was about time I did a before and after. It was actually quite fun because I took photos at different stages. Apologies for the state of my hair, I was a windy day and I just really didn’t want to do anything with it (and my fringe is shamelessly clipped up).

All of the products I used are affordable and I bought them in high street shops. The picture above is me with absolutely nothing on and no editing too and the one next to it is with the Barry M primer and the L’Oreal Infallible Base also not edited. I like this combination as it really smooths out my face and makes it look more evenly toned.

I have quite a lot of redness generally all over my face which is super annoying on days that I don’t want to wear makeup but I kind of just tend to get over it. I have just bought the new Flawless Colour Correcting Primer by Barry M. I have never tried any Barry M makeup products before so this is really interesting to use. It looks scarier than it is, honest. I found that you have to shake the bottle a little bit otherwise it comes out watery.

I used the Rimmel Coral Glow Sculpting Palette to slightly contour my cheek bones and make them more defined. I like this because it’s not a heavy colour and seems to compliment my skin quite nicely. I then use the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights to highlight under my eyes and on top of my cheeks. The products picks up on the brush so easily and gives a lovely Spring glow. I always put on blush last as I like it to go over the top of everything and I so obsessed with Kiko’s Rebel Bouncy Blush in the shade 02 Adorable Pink and it really is adorable. I have not gone a day without wearing it since I discovered it!

For eyes I used the Clinique Colour Surge eye shadow trio which unfortunately I can’t find a link for anywhere! This is what I call my ‘safe’ option. It’s a really lovely, easy to use eye shadow and I just love it for everyday wear as it lasts really well and I never have a problem with it creasing and it highlights the eyes really beautifully.

I have also been using the They’re Real Tinted Primer by Benefit which I have in a sample size and it really does make the eyes look so much better than just going in with mascara.

For mascara I generally use the Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama which I have loved from day one. I then used Kiko Deep Black Eye Marker and I have fallen in love with this too. The nib makes it really precise and you don’t have to keep going over and over it so it’s super quick to use in the morning before work which is always going to be a plus for me. On my brows I used the L’Oreal Brow Artist Shaper followed by the Brow This Way Styling gel. I love the colour of this pencil as it matches my brow colour well when normally they’re too dark for me as I only have thin eyebrows.

On my lips I’m wearing the Arrow Lip Balm which I got in this months Birchbox and it has a lovely texture on my lips, smells of mint and is such a nice pink shade on my lips so it’s a win win all round.

Finally a photo of the finished look. For me this is a good everyday work makeup look and it doesn’t take me long at all.

Mini Face Mask Reviews Part 2

I hope you enjoyed reading my first face mask reviews, I shall dive right in with part 2!

Sanctuary Spa – Reverse Beauty Sleep Mask

I received this product in the limited edition beauty box and I’m so glad I did. I tried it the first night I received it and it was the first over night mask I had ever tried so was super curious to see what it would be like. I applied this after doing my usual night time routine and it literally sank into my skin so nicely which I was surprised about because it’s really thick and gloopey. As it’s clear there was no need to worry about getting it all over the bed sheets or anything and when it came to morning I just cleansed my face as usual. I have been using this a couple of times a week and I have notice my makeup doesn’t get stuck as much around my dryer patches so I’m impressed with this.

Sanctuary Spa – 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask

This is probably my favourite mask out of the lot. It’s a bit messier than I would like but I can deal with that. The feeling I have when I put this on is so relaxed and lovely and afterwards my skin is like a dream. Not only does it feel nice and clean it feels as if I have had a treatment. I have done a whole post of my thoughts on this here .

Soap & Glory – No Clogs Allowed

When I first got this I loved it. I used it during my pamper evenings every Sunday for three weeks without even looking at any of my other ones. Then what I call ‘the incident’ happened. It was so traumatic I haven’t used it since as I have been so put off which is annoying because I really used to like it. Basically ‘the incident’ happened after I had this mask on one evening and I took it off after the time it says and one really bright patch would not budge. I tried everything – washing with water, using a wet cloth, scrub, putting other face wash on it and washing it and it just didn’t move, it was horrific and didn’t even come off for 3 days. I don’t even know what happened but I don’t want to use it again now!

KIKO Hydrating Mask

I picked this up a little while ago when I did a little KIKO haul as I was really interested in their skincare. We all know why I picked this one so I won’t go into it! I have only used this a couple of times so don’t have a strong love or hate for it but I generally like it. The smell is so fresh and quite floral but not too over powering which I really like. Texture-wise, it’s almost like a thick cream so I wouldn’t apply this too heavily but with this a little goes a long way and you do wipe it off after sort of 15 minutes so it’s not the end of the world. As with all the KIKO products I’ve tried so far I really like it and it was really cheap as well for such good quality and left my skin feeling ultra smooth and hydrated.

There we have it, my mini mask reviews. Let me know if there’s any I should try!

Kiko Milano Spree

I’ve been seeing over the last few weeks about the sales KIKO MILANO do and I had used their eyeliner before but couldn’t remember where I picked it up from so decided to have a little gander at the website and it sure did deliver. I was really pleasently surprised at the sale prices as the normal prices are already so reasonable and they always seem to have some sort of promotion or sale on. When looking over everything on the website I decided to go for a range of things and ended up with a total of 8 products although the lipstick and liner came as a set.

KIKO MILANO Purchases

I chose the eyeliner because I had used one of theirs before and really enjoyed it, I decided to challend myself a bit more and go for a more chunky liner so got the Deep Black Eye Marker. I’m so pleased with it, although it’s a bit scary-looking due to it’s chunky appearance but it is so easy to use and I made fewer mistakes than when I use a thinner nib. This was a bargin at only £2.70 reduced from £7.90 which is still a reasonable price!

The problem that I have is small eyes and because of this I am always looking for things that make my eyes look bigger. I think a thinner eyeliner probably does a better job at this but I love the thick pen so much I will use it anyway! When I was playing around it made the finishing touches of such a lovely 60’s make up look so I might start doing that a bit more just for a bit of fun!

I also decided to go for a couple of their blushes purely because the colours looked so pretty and amazing and I think they are really wearable colours for spring/summer looks so I’m excited to start wearing! The one I am most intrigued by is the blush from the Rebel Bouncy Collection as it’s a beautiful coral colour.

I will be testing these out and experimenting with different looks with the blushes over the next couple of weeks so I will keep you posted!

Have you made any KIKO purchases, what are they?
