Maybelline Fit Me Foundation – First Impressions

I have decided to do a first impressions review on the Fit Me Foundation because I am actually pretty impressed with it so I think it would be interesting to check up in a few weeks if I still feel the same about this foundation. I don’t know what made me pick up this foundation but I did and it is so reasonably priced I didn’t see the harm because it’s not the end of the world if I don’t like it – it’s only £5.99. This is a matte foundation which is not something I would normally choose because as someone with dry skin matte foundations can often not look their best on my face.

I have also never used a foundation that comes in a squeezey tube and I was really pleased when I saw it had a foil cap over the hole because you can never really be sure with drugstore products if they have been touched or something!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

The texture of the product itself is actually quite runny and because it doesn’t have a pump it’s a little bit hard to judge how much to squeeze out but I went with more is less and I can build on it if I need to and it worked quite well.

I think the main reason I am so impressed with this foundation after one use is because the colour match is just perfect and to me it’s fairly high coverage. This literally blended over my skin so nicely and evenly I was really pleased. I thought it would be too yellow tone but it actually worked really well and really evenly over my whole face.

I would say that I did notice a couple of dry patches but nothing too significant and I didn’t actually put a heavy moisturiser on underneath as I normally would before I apply matte foundations.

I’m looking forward to trying this out even more and using it for my everyday makeup. I will be doing an update post in a few weeks!

Bourjois City Radiance Foundation

When I was browaing in Superdrug recently looking at all the goodies I could buy I found myself looking at the Bourjois stand once again. I have a few things that I absolutely love by Bourjois I just haven’t written about them so I don’t want you to think I’m being extra harsh about them but I was just really interested in this and it’s a bit newer than the bits I already have! They have a couple of new/ish things out so i was really interested in trying them. Superdrug had a 3 for 2 on so I bought three things, the City Radiance foundation and two of the Rouge Edition lipsticks.

I think it’s really interesting that this one is in a tube because their other popular foundations are in a pump and I actually really like that it is a tube. I liked the idea of the City Radiance foundation because I normally go for a more glowy look over matte so this seemed perfect at offering a ‘brightening effect’. I say seemed because I actually think this is one of the worst foundations I have ever tried. It sounds harsh but my skin looked anything but radiant.

When I swatched this on my hand I wasn’t too sure of the texture because it seemed to just cling to everything and didn’t really spread evenly and that is also exactly what happened on my face which I was so disappointed about! The product itself is quite drying and once blended into the skin feels almost powder like which I didn’t expect at all, if anything I would have thought it might be more oily. The thing with this foundation is that it’s probably really lovely for people that already have flawless skin and don’t wear foundation everyday. As well as it being quite drying and patchy on my face, I also noticed that for me that throughout the day it just got more orange toned compared to when I first applied it.

For me this is a very light coverage foundation too so as I said about it’s more for someone who already has very good skin that doesn’t have blemishes that they want to cover. If you’ve been on my blog before you will already know that I struggle with redness and under-skin spots on my cheeks (which aren’t anywhere as bad as they were) but these patches definitely didn’t get covered.

One of the things that made me pick this up is that it has SPF 30 which is such a high level of protection compared of other foundations and I really like that. It says that it’s a ‘skin protecting foundation’ so it helps protect your skin with an anti pollution screen. I just so wish that it didn’t sit on my skin the way is does because these qualities are amazing.

All in all I’m just a bit disappointed in general with this product just because it looks so good on the outside and it doesn’t perform on the inside! I don’t think I will be using this again any time soon unfortunately.

Have you tried this foundation? Whats your experience with it?
