10 Awesome Body Care Products You Need This Summer

So this is the part 2 of this post, you can find part 1 on Zoe’s blog here so if you haven’t seen it yet pop over and give it a read because she talks about some lovely summer products in it!

6. Avon Foot works Health Rough Skin Remover

Just as with Zoe’s pick of the Body Shop Intensive Foot Rescue, I love Avon Foot Works products. This one never fails to leave my feet feeling smooth and in the summer when you’re wearing flip-flops 99% of the time the last thing you want to worry about is dry cracked skin on your feet. I have been using Avon Foot Works products for a while now and I still love them the same as when I first used them. It also has an amazing minty smell and leaves you feeling refreshed.

7.  No7 Beautiful Skin Blissful Body Wash

I got this at Christmas in a lovely bundle from my mum and this is the body wash I use when I’m having a shower but want a little bit of luxury. This is so soft on my skin it’s unbelievable. That’s why I think it’s a good product for summer because if you’ve been out all day walking or just sunbathing it replenishes the moisture in your skin and the scent leaves you feeling so relaxed.

8. Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Butter Souffle

This is one of those products that I can’t describe how lovely it is to use. If there’s one scent I could smell all day it would be from this tub. It smells deliciously fruity and is perfect for summer. Although this is a thick body butter I love putting it on after a shower as it only takes the the smallest amount and leaves my skin feeling amazing.

9. Perspirex Comfort Antiperspirant Roll-on*

I’m not usually a roll-on kinda girl but I was sent this to review after getting in touch with Perspirex. I have a very busy summer this year and what attracted me to this type of product is that you only need to apply it every 3-5 days. You may be thinking ‘What???!’ but it’s not as bad as it sounds at all. When I went camping last month this was a lift saver. it’s a lot smaller than my usual spray on bottle so was easier to take along with me. What I noticed with this is that even after three days, including showering everyday there was no smell – I even had my boyfriend and friends sniffing me to check! The only thing I’m not so keen on is that this does take a little while to dry and it does recommend putting on at night but sometimes it’s not practical for me to do that. This is definitely worth a go though!

10. Gillette Venus Razor

I have always used the Gillette Venus razor and have never had any problems with my skin afterwards. There’s not a lot more to say about this one other than that it’s easy to use and leaves your skin smooth every time. The refills do work out expensive over time but if waxing isn’t your thing these are brilliant to use.

Let me know what you’re top summer products are!

The Body Shop Vitamin C Day Cream

I am very much into day creams and I’m so glad that I decided to purchase this one. If I’m honest the only reason I bought it is because I was running out of my Ole Henriksen truth serum and it was bought out of sheer panic but I’m really happy that I did, it has so many good qualities.

WP_20160501_10_45_02_Pro (2)

When I first tried this day cream I hated it. Everything about it just screams sun  cream but after using it for a while now I’ve grown to love it so much. The texture of cream is really thick but it absorbs super quickly on my skin but also spreads evenly as the same time. I have been putting this on under my foundation and I swear it is this that has been making it last throughout the day so well. I wouldn’t use this under makeup if you don’t like a glowy look just because it does still keep a kind of sheen under the surface.

One of the amazing qualities this product has is that is contains SPF 30. For me this is a massive plus for a day cream and you know you are going to stay protected from the sun and weathering on you face. I think of it as almost like a quick fix as it instantly moisturises my face, mixed with a long term protector as it will prevent aging from the sun.

As I said above, I wear this under my makeup and I actually wouldn’t want to wear it without makeup. My reason for this is that it leaves my face really quite shiny and sometimes depending on what kind of skin day I’m having it stings from the vitamin C and can make my face look slightly red and flushed for a little while but it goes eventually.

I love the smell of this cream! It has such a zesty summery scent and I always think of summer every time I put it on! I would say if you don’t like scented things on your face then this probably isn’t for you but it’s not something you can smell after a little while once it has sunk into your skin.

Once this tube finishes I know that I will be replacing it with another one just because my skin seems to LOVE vitamin C products. Since I have been using my vitamin C serum and day cream every day my under-skin spots and red patches really have faded so much I even get compliments on how flawless my skin looks now which always shocks me! This is also a much cheaper alternative to the Ole Henriksen serum which is a plus for when I can’t afford it!

Do you use any vitamin C face products? Let me know what they are!

March & April Favourites

As it’s the end of another month I have decided to write up my favourites. I’m only going to do this every other month and combine the two together because I just feel like I’m a hard girl to impress! No really though, I just think sometimes when I try a new product or discover something new one month just ins’t enough time for me to really make anything a favourite! I have a little bit of everything to talk about so just read on…

WP_20160430_12_21_34_Pro (2)

Lets start off with something everyone here has heard of and knows about. The Garnier Micellar water. I love this and I really can’t get enough of it. It has taken me about three months to get through a whole bottle but it is amazing at taking my makeup off with no mess at all and keeps my skin super soft! This is so cheap as well especially for how long it lasted and it is always on offer somewhere too! They also do a smaller travel size which is so convenient – this is something I would really recommend.

Something I have been loving that was completely new to me a little over a month ago is by Crabtree and EvelynI have been using the Pomegranate, argan and grapeseed hand cream and it is so amazing. Not only is it so moisturising but the smell is just so good. I can’t even describe it, it’s just glorious! Every time I use this which is mainly in the evening before bed, it absorbs really quickly and never leaves behind that horrible oily stickiness you sometimes get with hand creams. I will definitely be buying a full size one when this little one runs out.

A lipstick I have been seriously swooning over is by Kiko – seriously go check it out. I recently did a post on this so I won’t ramble on too much but it is hands down my favourite Spring lipstick. I always get people asking me what it is because it’s such a lovely shade of pink and really subtle at the same time so I literally wear it everywhere I go.

This one is going to sound pretty ridiculous but I have a favourite shower gel! I said it. I bought the Yogi Flow shower foam when I was on holiday last month in Barcelona and this is honestly amazing! The scent of this is really gentle and relaxing and I love using this when I shower in the evening because I find it really calming especially that it is a lovely foam too it just makes showing so easy and enables me to unwind.

April Look Fantastic Box #LFBLOOMS

I have been experimenting with different beauty box subscriptions for a while now just because I love receiving little ‘presents’ each month and not knowing what it will be inside!

You can definitely tell this is a Spring box from the cover and I love reusing these for storage and other bits so it’s always brilliant when it’s lovely colours. You get such a mixture of things from makeup to skincare and hair products which is what makes them so appealing.

This months Look Fantastic box contains mostly body products and moisturisers which I’m a big fan of because with Summer coming up it’s nice to fall in love with a product that will keep the frizz away in the heat or your skin from being flaky because no one wants to get those legs out when they’re flaking away!

Edited 1.jpg

In boxes, I have received so many items from brands I’ve never even heard of like the Briogeo hair mask in this box for example. Rituals is a favourite of mine so I know I will love the scrub but I have never used anything by Balance Me  so I am super excited to get using these different bits! Admittedly I have given away the MyVitamins  to my boyfriend as I don’t use things like that at all.

Overall, I’m really happy with this box and really looking forward to trying out new some new products! I would really recommend the Look Fantastic box as I feel like it’s such good value for money compared to some of the others.

What beauty boxes have you tried?

My Miracle Moisturisers

This is the final part of my three-part blog posts to do with skincare. There are only two products I am talking about here as this is something that I don’t really like mixing up purely because I know what already works well for me on this front. Both items are drugstore and good value for money. If you haven’t seen my other posts find part one here and part two here.

I’m really glad that I wrote this little trilogy because it really made me review what is actually working on my skin and what I am using just to use or just because I like the scent which is pretty silly when you think about it!

The first one I am going to talk about is one I actually can’t talk about enough because I simply love it. When my skin was awful from my illnesses and really dragging me down I started using this and my weird dry patches over my cheeks, nose and neck visibly cleared up in under 2 weeks which is amazing considering I had tried every prescription cream going and the pharmacy had really run out of answers. What cream is this you ask? It’s the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Normal/Dry skin.

I have spoken about this before but not for a while and this has got to be my one item that if I was stuck on an island I would take! It is quite a thick day cream but I think this is really good for my skin because it keeps it moisturised all day long without me having to worry about getting dreaded dry flaky skin by lunch time. I use this every morning and put it all over my face including my under eyes and neck and it always works lovely. What I love about No7 too is that they are always  on 3 for 2.

The next one I have been really making an effort to use is the  Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream that I picked up with the hot cleanser from the same range. The reason I say making an effort is because I don’t normally have overly sensitive skin and I usually love Superdrug own brand items but I came out in the worst rash ever after using the hot cloth cleanser which I am so gutted about and it made be really dubious to use the night cream as well but so far all is well.

If you haven’t tried anything from this range before the only way I can describe the beautiful scent of this is like summer. It’s got a very strong coconut smell which I normally don’t like but in the evening I have been really  massaging this into my skin after cleansing. This isn’t actually my favourite night cream but I ran out of my No7 one and  I bought this and it’s ok so I don’t want to waste it just  for the sake of it.

Edited Copy 2

As with a lot of skincare creams you really only need the smallest amount and as it’s the same with this one because it’s quite watery especially compared to the No7 one I am used to but it does absorb quite nicely and leaves my face feeling nicely refreshed.

Have you come across any moiturisers that have changed your skincare routine?  I would be really interested because I feel like it would be hard to convince me to move away from No7 ones!

My Great Cleansing Conundrum

Read on at your own risk… this is a mammoth post!

This is going to be a mini series of three posts – cleansers, facial oils and moisturisers. I love looking after my skin and it’s one of the things I most look forward to doing in my day. If you’re not a regular reader I have very dry and blemished skin so I am always striving to find something that will nourish my skin.

I cleanse my face in the morning before I put my makeup on and again at night before I go to bed. I have recently been trying to widen my skincare routine product range because I feel like sometimes this might be the reason my skin goes through bad spells. I used to be one of those types of people that once I was happy with a product I was set up for life (this would have previously been No7 which I still love) but I have actually been really enjoying mixing things up.

If you’re unsure of brands to use I would really recommend signing up to a monthly subscription beauty box this has really helped my because and there have been a surprising amount of products in them from amazing brands I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I also love receiving these because sometimes there are real luxury products that I can’t justify spending money on and this is a brilliant opportunity to try some of the more expensive brands. Ones that I would recommend would be GlossyBox or LookFantastic, with these you can choose a plan that suits you and you receive a mixture of skincare, hair products and makeup.

After years of being an avid lover of all No7 skincare I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and try different things. I mean what’s the point in buying all these amazing beauty boxes and giving half of it away! Here’s three new cleansers I’m really into lately.

A new one I have been loving for the past three weeks is the Miracle Cleanser by Aurelia. I must admit after I looked up their website and saw their prices I have been using this more sparingly because I don’t want to waste any so I have managed to make it last quite well. This is one of the best cleansers I have ever used in my life. You can certainly tell it’s a pricey product just by the packaging. I use this in the morning only and I feel like this has actually worked really well with my skin though to the point that I am actually going to buy a couple of their bits when I have finished this one. I am in love with the scent of this little beauty which is lovely because all their products are ‘free from’ in some way and use as many natural ingredients as possible and I think that this is possibly why it has been getting on with my skin so well. This sample also came with a bamboo muslin cloth as well so I have been using that with the cleanser.

Another cleanser I have been using again is Clinique’s Liquid facial soap. Although there’s not much for me to say about this one, I love using this when I’m in a hurry or when I’m doing a second cleanse. It smells so lovely and fresh, is for dry/combination skin and I find it always lifts all the days dirt away. In my opinion this product is pretty basic cleanser and does it’s job but it’s not like a pampering cleanser it’s more of an everyday item.

The final cleanser I have been enjoying on the odd evening recently is the Murad Exfoliating Cleanser. I do this when I am having a bit more of a pamper evening to really get into my skin and lift out anything that shouldn’t be there. One thing I noticed is how gentle this is on my skin and how it preps it to better absorb facial oils and night moisturisers. There is virtually no scent to this product which is fine for me as I use other scented products afterwards anyway.

That’s a round up of the new cleansers I have been using over the past month. Let me know if you mix up your routine or only stick to what you know!

Ganier Dark Spot Corrector Update on my Skin

It’s been a month since I last wrote the first post on the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector you can find the post about it here. I really wanted to give you a short update on how I have been finding it.

Before I had really dark sports on my cheeks and red patches and generally blemished skin and I still have these problems but I feel like they’re not as bad as they were before. I feel like it hasn’t really made a dramatic difference though and although it works really well as a moisturiser I have others that can do just the same.

So the first picture is from a month ago and the second picture is one that I took this morning. As you can see there are still really obvious patches of skin there that would be nice not to have but they cover really easily with make up. It doesn’t look that much different to a month ago but when I look in the mirror it really isn’t as harsh red as it used to be so I do think something is working.

As for the product itself I’m unsure whether or not I will repurchase this as it hasn’t hugely altered by blemishes and I’ve been using it everyday for 3 months sometimes in the evening too and I feel like I expect more from a product like this.

Have you tried any products that work best over time? Did they work?
