10 Awesome Body Care Products You Need This Summer

So this is the part 2 of this post, you can find part 1 on Zoe’s blog here so if you haven’t seen it yet pop over and give it a read because she talks about some lovely summer products in it!

6. Avon Foot works Health Rough Skin Remover

Just as with Zoe’s pick of the Body Shop Intensive Foot Rescue, I love Avon Foot Works products. This one never fails to leave my feet feeling smooth and in the summer when you’re wearing flip-flops 99% of the time the last thing you want to worry about is dry cracked skin on your feet. I have been using Avon Foot Works products for a while now and I still love them the same as when I first used them. It also has an amazing minty smell and leaves you feeling refreshed.

7.  No7 Beautiful Skin Blissful Body Wash

I got this at Christmas in a lovely bundle from my mum and this is the body wash I use when I’m having a shower but want a little bit of luxury. This is so soft on my skin it’s unbelievable. That’s why I think it’s a good product for summer because if you’ve been out all day walking or just sunbathing it replenishes the moisture in your skin and the scent leaves you feeling so relaxed.

8. Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Butter Souffle

This is one of those products that I can’t describe how lovely it is to use. If there’s one scent I could smell all day it would be from this tub. It smells deliciously fruity and is perfect for summer. Although this is a thick body butter I love putting it on after a shower as it only takes the the smallest amount and leaves my skin feeling amazing.

9. Perspirex Comfort Antiperspirant Roll-on*

I’m not usually a roll-on kinda girl but I was sent this to review after getting in touch with Perspirex. I have a very busy summer this year and what attracted me to this type of product is that you only need to apply it every 3-5 days. You may be thinking ‘What???!’ but it’s not as bad as it sounds at all. When I went camping last month this was a lift saver. it’s a lot smaller than my usual spray on bottle so was easier to take along with me. What I noticed with this is that even after three days, including showering everyday there was no smell – I even had my boyfriend and friends sniffing me to check! The only thing I’m not so keen on is that this does take a little while to dry and it does recommend putting on at night but sometimes it’s not practical for me to do that. This is definitely worth a go though!

10. Gillette Venus Razor

I have always used the Gillette Venus razor and have never had any problems with my skin afterwards. There’s not a lot more to say about this one other than that it’s easy to use and leaves your skin smooth every time. The refills do work out expensive over time but if waxing isn’t your thing these are brilliant to use.

Let me know what you’re top summer products are!

IOMA Paris 7 Days Rituel

For the past week I have been trying out the Ioma Paris 7 Days Youthful Moisture Cream for day and night. I received this in a beauty box and I had never heard of this brand before. After a couple of days of using it I decided to look it up and see how much it was and I think it’s fairly expensive at £7.20 for 7 little 1ml pods but it was ‘free’ so I’m glad I’ve tried it.

These are designed to keep your face moisturised for both the day and night but I have been applying this in the evening after I’ve done my skincare routine. The pods themselves look really small but I was surprised by how much product there is inside; there’s more than enough to use on my face and neck and some is left over.

IMG_0206 (2).JPG

The cream itself doesn’t have a strong scent which is nice because I don’t like things on my face that are too strong-smelling in the evening. The texture is fairly greasy and I found it does need rubbing in a bit more than some of my other moisturisers but I think that’s probably because it’s designed to last through the night and day.

After using this for a few days my skin does feel a lot more hydrated but I do have to keep to skincare routine or my face does get too greasy. I would say this is the only downside because when I don’t have time I don’t always do a full routine so I probably would only use this if I was staying away for a few days. It’s ideal that they are in little pods if you’re going away for a week or even to use over a couple of days because you can tear off each of the pods.

Over all I don’t think I would repurchase these for everyday use but I have enjoyed using these no-mess, individual, highly moisturising creams.

Have you used any IOMA products?

May & June Favorites

Another two months have passed so it’s time for another favourites post! All of the things I’ve been loving the past few weeks are makeup products so I do apologise. The reason for this is partly because nothing else has really stood out to me more than usual but I also haven’t been using anything different to normal so I thought I would just keep it to ‘new’ favourites.

Makeup Revolution Beyond Flawless Palette

I have been using this palette virtually everyday and basically all bar a couple of the eye shadows are so pigmented and long lasting. One of the main reasons I have been enjoying using it so much is because you can create so many different looks with it or adapt a day time look into an evening look so easily. This is also really useful if you’re going away because you just have to take the one palette!

Spectrum Collection C03 Flawless Finish Brush

I got this brush in a beauty box a few months ago and I had never heard of Spectrum before but it’s the softest brush ever I’m going to buy one of their collections. I like the shape of the brush and I have been using it more and more for highlighter and I find it works really well not to mention how beautiful they look!

Rimmel Sculpting Palette

The first few times I used this I really wasn’t keen on this palette at all. One day I just decided to play around with it and use it with different brushes and on different areas on my face and now there’s pretty much not a day that goes by when I don’t wear it. I love the blush shade I probably over do it sometimes! The highlighter is quite subtle but I tend to top it up with another highlighter depending on what kind of day I’m having!

Studio 10 Brow Lifting Pencil

It’s no exaggeration that I actually love this pencil. It’s such a perfect match for my brows which I normally have trouble finding the right match. This is a duo pencil with one side to fill in brows and the other side to shape and outline. I hardly use the the outline pencil just because it doesn’t suite my skin tone but both pencils are so lovely in texture and easy to use.

Basic Hair Care – Long Hair

I have long hair. I have had my hair this long for the last three years or so and I only go to the hairdressers to get it trimmed every sort of 6 months. Some people might find that fact horrific but that’s what I do. I first started growing my hair out to get it long enough to cut off the ends that I had dip dyed red. To concentrate on growing it out I literally tied my hair in a messy bun for about 6 months, one of the reasons I did this was because I didn’t like my hair but I also found it easier to do this so I didn’t keep checking how long my hair was!

For the past couple of years my hair has been at the length it currently is and I love it. I can’t imagine myself with any other hair. Sometimes it’s annoying on windy days or when I’m in a hurry it had been known to get stuck in the car door but generally it’s really easy for me to manage.

I wash my hair three times a week and I don’t have a fixed shampoo and conditioner product I use because I like to mix up what I use. I feel like my hair is always in better condition when I don’t use the same thing every time I wash my hair. I normally use the Superdrug own brand Coconut shampoo and conditioner. This is my every day shampoo and it’s kind of a cheap and cheerful product so you can’t really go wrong. The shampoo doesn’t foam as much as I would like but it’s not the end of the world and the conditioner always leaves my hair silky smooth and smelling amazing. I use this twice a week so every other time I wash my hair and use a different one in the middle.

Elvive Smooth Intense Shampoo and Conditioner (sorry about how disgusting they look)

When I’m not using the Superdrug shampoo I either use the Body Shop Rainforest Brilliance Shampoo that I recently wrote about here so I’m not going to talk about that but I’ll talk about the L’Oreal Elvive smooth Intense Anit-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner.

When I first started using this Shampoo I was worried it would make my hair more greasy or that I would have to wash my hair more than usual but I actually didn’t have to change my routine at all. I tend to use these most when I know I am going to use heat on my hair because these are more nourishing for my hair and makes my hair have such a lovely shine. I love using the mask version of this too and it literally smells so divine it’s unreal. All of these products are really well priced and so easy to pick up in Boots, Superdrug or even the supermarket.

I also use the Elvive Extraordinary Oil MaskI love using this once a week on the ends of my hair. I put it on after I have washed and conditioned and keep my hair in a bun whilst I shower. It always leaves my hair feeling extra smooth and looks in my better condition and gives off a lovely shine.

Sleek Whimsical Wonderland Collection

I saw this collection a few weeks ago on twitter and as soon as I saw it I fell in love and had to have some of these lovely bits. For me, the palette in this collection has the ultimate summer colours. It’s beautiful. I bought two of the lipsticks, the eye shadow palette and one of the cheek gel sticks.

First lets talk about the eye shadows because this is definitely my favourite product in the collection. The packaging of the outside box is beautiful and reflects the product inside perfectly. There are 12 shades inside and they all have a pastel undertone to them with some having a lovely shimmer added too. I would say it depends how confident you are on whether you could create a whole eye makeup look with this palette but I am so looking forward to having a play around with it.

Sleek Whimsical Wonderland Collection Palette

The majority of the eye shadows are really nicely pigmented but there are a couple that don’t come up so well. I really like how fun and playful they are though. These kinds of colours would be perfect for festivals and summer parties as well as everyday wear.

I also bought one of the Sweet Cheeks Gel Blushes. I got mine in the shade Hullabaloo and it’s really beautiful. It’s the perfect kind of rosy pink for my cheeks and I can really see myself using it a lot over the summer. This is so pigmented and because it’s a gel formula it blends really nicely and is so smooth.

Sleek Whimsical Wonderland Collection Cheek Stick

The packaging is really nice, small and compact so this would be ideal if you needed to top up throughout the day. However, mine has actually broken! If you follow me on snapchat (pamperedprune) you would have already seen what happened but basically I unscrewed the whole thing to see how much product there was and now it won’t go back down again! I have no idea why but it’s stuck so I’ve just left the cap on the top so it doesn’t dry out or something!

I also bought two of the LIP-VIP lipsticks from the collection. I have never been so excited to try out a lipstick in my life! They are semi matte lipsticks and the colour is so vibrant they would literally brighten up any makeup look. Again the match the collection in the sense that they are without doubt summer colours and I can’t wait to test these out this week! Once I have worn them lots and can form a proper opinion on them I am totally going to be writing up a single review on these little ones!

What are you most excited about from this collection?

I am a serial beauty box buyer. I love trying new things and I love receiving gifts so what better concept than a beauty box? I have developed a bit of a love-hate relationship with various boxes but I still continue to subscribe to them and try out different ones, maybe it’s an addiction? I don’t know.

I was really pleased when this box arrived on Friday because I had completely forgotten about it and it has some real treats in there this month which I am definitely more than a little excited to try out. I have an ever growing box that all bits like this go in and it’s truly like a kid going to a pick ‘n’ mix shop.

In this months box is a lovely selection of products. The first thing I saw was the Mr Blanc Teeth Whitening Strips. I was a little bit pleased to see these becasue recently I have been looking at the Minty Coco Teeth Whitening kit which I think is a lot more less chemically based than some whitening products but I am going to do some more research into it before I use either. I know that some can damage the enamel on your teeth but I want to know more about it first although I don’t think doing it once will cause any lasting damage.

There are a lot of moisturising and summer based products in this box which is really nice to trial a little bit before July/August time because if I like them I can buy them to keep my skin nice and hydrated through the warmer months.

IMG_0084 (2).JPG

The ones I’m most excited to try!

One thing I’m particularly interested in is the Tan Organic Self Tan Oil. I have been self tanning a lot more recently and I feel like that because this is an oil it might be really hydrating on my skin compared to some other fake tanning. It also says you can apply it with your hand which I’m wary of but it would be nice if it cam be applied like that streak free because then I don’t have to worry about it! I will see how this works out but I’m excited to use it.

Overall I’m really please with this box and can’t wait to try out the different bits and pieces, this box is definitely worth it’s £15.00.

Have you tried any of the products in this months box?

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

Since I saw this being used months ago by people in America I literally wanted it so much it took all my will power not to hop on a plane and go get it so as soon as it came to the UK I purchased it, of course.

My first impressions were obviously going to be tainted by all the Youtube opinions I had heard and watched over the months so needless to say I was impressed, my only concern was the shade because I had bought this online but it matched me surprisingly well.

L’Oreal Cushion Foundation

The packaging is lovely and is what I can only imagine makeup products used to be like in the early 20th century. The lid closes really nicely to keep the moisture in the product and the sponge has its own cute little compartment.

I have been using this foundation with my normal makeup sponge because that’s what I know I like to use and it applies so well, has good coverage and blends really easily across my skin. I normally use the more dewy kind of foundations so I knew that I would probably like the finish this gives off.

L’Oreal Cushion Foundation

Now here’s the disappointing part. I love this foundation up until it’s been on my face for about 3 hours. I have dry skin generally which is the whole reason I don’t tend to go for matte foundations but my face gets oily after only a few hours of wear and it just doesn’t seem to dry it stays a bit wet. If you follow me on snapchat (pamperedprune) you will know that I said it felt like every bit of dirt was sticking to my face and that is really not a good feeling or look for that matter!

I will be continuing to use this foundation but I don’t think my opinion will change. It’s such a shame because it literally applies so well and looks amazing when it’s first applied. I’m not sure that applying powder would help with this or make it look cakey?

Let me know if you have any advice or if I’m doing something wrong! How are you getting on with this foundations?
