Online shopping is one of my favourite pastimes and sometimes it can be hard to resist buying products, especially makeup, that you have never actually seen in real life. Buying makeup online is a very risky business if you’re purchasing something you have never used before and you may very well end up spending money on things that you don’t end up liking! Here are some tips to hopefully help, whether you’re buying drugstore or more expensive!
Stick to What You Know
This isn’t vary daring at all but sometimes it’s just better to stick to what you know. If you have run out of your favourite foundation or need to pick up the face cream you always use you know what you’re getting because you’ve used it before so not really a lot can go wrong with this, however it’s boring and not adventurous so let’s move on to the next tip.
Put the Free Samples in Your Basket
A lot of websites, specifically more expensive ones, let you choose some samples at the end and this is the perfect opportunity to pick out something you might like to try. This is one of my favourite ways to try new things and Clinique tend to have really good offers on things like this such as receiving a free gift set when you spend more than £45.00. If you’re already purchasing the products you know and use it’s not difficult to spend that amount to get your freebie which means you can try out something different. So many other websites do it too so keep a look out as you normally have to put a code in for them before you enter your details to pay.
Stick to Drugstore
If you really don’t want to have a breakdown over how much you spent on something you don’t like try just sticking to purchasing drugstore products online. Most things are under £10 so if you want to try that new lipstick but have never seen it in real life £6 isn’t too much to cry about. Obviously you don’t want to get spendy too often but sometimes it just needs to be done!
Purchase the Full Size Item
If you’ve been colour matched at a counter in store or you’ve tried out the sample and loved it don’t be afraid to buy the full size product. If you really enjoyed the sample and can’t stop thinking about it then it’s probably going to be worth it! Sometimes the travel size is cheap and cheerful but do you want to be buying the same thing every other week? No. So just buy the full size and bask in the pleasure of owning it.
Take an Educated Guess
This ones’s a bit more daring! If you have been using a particular brand for years and you tend to know what you do and don’t like then you can most likely take an educated guess on what you will like so if you really want it you might as well get it. If it’s a high end product this is a bit more risky but equally with drugstore products if you just keep clicking you will end up purchasing too many things that you probably don’t actually need so keep this in mind! Ultimately if you want it but aren’t 100% go to the store and check it out for real!
