Growing your Hair – My Tips

I have had long hair for around 3 years now and I have actually grown it out from shoulder length which took me about 2 years to get to so I wanted to share with you some of the tips and tricks that I used to help me grow out my hair. These aren’t scientifically proven or anything and some of them might not have even contributed to my hair growth but I feel like these 5 tips really helped me.

Tip Number One

I tied my hair my hair up in a messy bun for about the first 6 months I started to grow my hair out. I feel like this helped because I wasn’t checking my hair every five minutes so I feel like because it wasn’t on my mind constantly I was like ‘wow my hairs actually grown’.

This is awful but reality. Messy buns work.

Tip Number Two

Don’t wash your hair everyday. By washing you hair all the time it washes out the natural oils which keep your hair in nice condition which therefore helps keep your hair lovely and helps your hair grow. I mean, I’m not sure how much this actually works but I found this worked for me.

Tip Number Three

Get your ends trimmed semi-regularly. Obviously getting your hair cut isn’t going to make it longer but I think the whole point of this is that you have your split ends chopped off which keeps your hair in nice condition and stops your ends breaking off. When I was growing my hair out I got mine done every 2-3 months but only about an inch off the ends.

Tip Number Four

As hard as this might be, try not to use too much heat your hair. If your someone who is used to styling your hair with heat every day this one might be a little bit difficult. Heat causes damage and damage means more split ends which makes your ends break off. I really just let my hair to it’s own hair for about a year. That seems a little bit terrifying but it wasn’t actually too bad. I got an extra 20 minutes in bed and I really believe that when I stopped straightening my hair every day it enabled my hair to grow faster and in better condition than if I hadn’t stopped straightening it.

Try not to use heat to style your hair.

Tip Number Five

Just be patient. This might seem like a crap tip and I’m sorry but it’s true. If you really want to grow your hair out try not to get bored with it and cut it or dye it or just give up. Like I already said mine has taken a good 3 years to get to how it is now and I went through so many phases of wanted to have it cut, getting layers, dying it and all sorts but I just carried on and it was so worth it because now I really love my hair.
