Aussie Shower Smoothie

Today I’m only doing a short post but it’s an exciting one! The other day when I was browsing in my local Superdrug I found something interesting – you may have guessed by the title what that is and it’s a shower gel by Aussie! I don’t know about you but I love their hair care and I couldn’t wait to try this out. I don’t know if they have been doing shower products for long but I haven’t seen them anywhere at all before this!

Aussie Shower Smoothie

In my local store there were three scents and I picked up the Australian Macadamia Nut Oil one and it’s smells so divine it’s unreal. The bottle is a massive 400ml so I will definitely have it for a little while and is so reasonably priced at £3.16 normally priced at £4.75!

The product itself is quite thick which I really like and lathers up really well. It recommends on the back using a loofah but I haven’t and get plenty of lather out of it 🙂

The few times I have used it, I have come out the shower feeling fresh and clean and smelling amazingly (if I do say so myself). When I run out of this one I might try some of the other scents too!

Have you seen or tried any shower gels by Aussie? Let me know!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation – First Impressions

I have decided to do a first impressions review on the Fit Me Foundation because I am actually pretty impressed with it so I think it would be interesting to check up in a few weeks if I still feel the same about this foundation. I don’t know what made me pick up this foundation but I did and it is so reasonably priced I didn’t see the harm because it’s not the end of the world if I don’t like it – it’s only £5.99. This is a matte foundation which is not something I would normally choose because as someone with dry skin matte foundations can often not look their best on my face.

I have also never used a foundation that comes in a squeezey tube and I was really pleased when I saw it had a foil cap over the hole because you can never really be sure with drugstore products if they have been touched or something!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

The texture of the product itself is actually quite runny and because it doesn’t have a pump it’s a little bit hard to judge how much to squeeze out but I went with more is less and I can build on it if I need to and it worked quite well.

I think the main reason I am so impressed with this foundation after one use is because the colour match is just perfect and to me it’s fairly high coverage. This literally blended over my skin so nicely and evenly I was really pleased. I thought it would be too yellow tone but it actually worked really well and really evenly over my whole face.

I would say that I did notice a couple of dry patches but nothing too significant and I didn’t actually put a heavy moisturiser on underneath as I normally would before I apply matte foundations.

I’m looking forward to trying this out even more and using it for my everyday makeup. I will be doing an update post in a few weeks!

Growing your Hair – My Tips

I have had long hair for around 3 years now and I have actually grown it out from shoulder length which took me about 2 years to get to so I wanted to share with you some of the tips and tricks that I used to help me grow out my hair. These aren’t scientifically proven or anything and some of them might not have even contributed to my hair growth but I feel like these 5 tips really helped me.

Tip Number One

I tied my hair my hair up in a messy bun for about the first 6 months I started to grow my hair out. I feel like this helped because I wasn’t checking my hair every five minutes so I feel like because it wasn’t on my mind constantly I was like ‘wow my hairs actually grown’.

This is awful but reality. Messy buns work.

Tip Number Two

Don’t wash your hair everyday. By washing you hair all the time it washes out the natural oils which keep your hair in nice condition which therefore helps keep your hair lovely and helps your hair grow. I mean, I’m not sure how much this actually works but I found this worked for me.

Tip Number Three

Get your ends trimmed semi-regularly. Obviously getting your hair cut isn’t going to make it longer but I think the whole point of this is that you have your split ends chopped off which keeps your hair in nice condition and stops your ends breaking off. When I was growing my hair out I got mine done every 2-3 months but only about an inch off the ends.

Tip Number Four

As hard as this might be, try not to use too much heat your hair. If your someone who is used to styling your hair with heat every day this one might be a little bit difficult. Heat causes damage and damage means more split ends which makes your ends break off. I really just let my hair to it’s own hair for about a year. That seems a little bit terrifying but it wasn’t actually too bad. I got an extra 20 minutes in bed and I really believe that when I stopped straightening my hair every day it enabled my hair to grow faster and in better condition than if I hadn’t stopped straightening it.

Try not to use heat to style your hair.

Tip Number Five

Just be patient. This might seem like a crap tip and I’m sorry but it’s true. If you really want to grow your hair out try not to get bored with it and cut it or dye it or just give up. Like I already said mine has taken a good 3 years to get to how it is now and I went through so many phases of wanted to have it cut, getting layers, dying it and all sorts but I just carried on and it was so worth it because now I really love my hair.

Do you have any tips or tricks for people wanting to grow out there hair? Share them below in the comments 🙂

Copper Eye Makeup Look

This post is an eye makeup look that I have been playing around with and I want to show you how I created it. I hope you all like this look, I decided not to do anything too dramatic because I have fairly hooded eyes and it just looks a mess if I do that but let me know what you think at the end!

I haven’t really done anything on my face because I wanted to concentrate on my eyes.

I started by creating a neutral base by putting some Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer over my whole eyelid up to my brow, once that was blended in I then used Collections Eye Primer  again all over my eyelid and a little under my eye.

I left that for a minute to dry before starting with any eye shadows. First I applied a matte eye shadow in the crease from the Blushed Nudes eye shadow palette by Maybelline followed by a matte brown in the Girl Panic palette by Makeup Revolution.

For the main colour I used the copper shade in the MUA Utopia eye shadow palette but I’m not sure I like these eye shadows very much. I also used the Girl Panic Palette and took the copper shade from in there to go over my eyelid. Once my eyelid was done I just used a blending brush to sweep some of the excess product on my lower lash line.

For the eyeliner I used the Precision Ink eye liner by Illamasqua and I’m not normally a liquid eyeliner person but this is surprisingly east to apply and build up. After doing this I used the Superdrug own false eyelashes in Volume Edition #21 and they were really nice to use, I literally use my fingers to put these on and never have a problem. On my lower lashes I used a khol eyeliner to the corners to just add a bit of something and added some No7 mascara and that is the finished look.

3 Lip Products I’m Wearing Right Now

I love mixing up what I put on my lips and as the weather’s becoming warmer and Spring is now in full flow I thought I would share with you the lip products I have been using most recently.

I have been using lip gloss a lot which isn’t normally my thing because I have long hair that tends to get in stuck in it and I don’t generally reach for gloss products. However, as I have been wearing more pink and purple shades of eye shadow I have been making the most of my No7 High Shine gloss in the shade Glaze. This gives a lovely shine to my lips and is really moisturising; I love that it has SPF 15 too. This gloss isn’t overly pigmented but at the same time doesn’t have too much glittery particles so I’ve found it works really nicely for me.

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle de Velvet in the colour 03 VIPeach is the next one and is my least favourite out of the three. The colour of this product is beautiful, it’s such a girly, Spring colour and although the texture of this is strange it’s lovely. The only downside is that this just doesn’t stay on my lips longer than about 20 minutes. I’m really disappointed with it because the texture of the product itself is really smooth and lightweight but it’s so sheer it just doesn’t last long at all and leaves a bit of a weird outline which is really frustrating because it’s so nice to use.

The next one is something I got in a beauty box and I really didn’t get on with it when I first got it and this is the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm. The reason I think I didn’t like it straight away is just because of how bright it is and I don’t normally go that bright on my lips but I just decided to get on with it and now I’m really into wearing it. I actually really like the texture of this product because it’s really smooth on my lips and it’s so refreshing as it smells super minty.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm

So that’s a round up of the lip products I’m wearing right now. I love brightening my face with different colours and being able to mix it up every day so if you’re not used to it I would definitely recommend trying brighter lipsticks and eventually you will start to enjoy using them daily!

Do you have any recommendations of lipsticks I can try?

Limited Edition Liz Earle Cleanser

I am about to make a confession to you all that you might find hard to believe. Before two weeks ago I had never tried a Liz Earle product. Not a single one. I’m as much into cleansers as much as the next beauty blogger but for some reason had never got round to purchasing anything until now. There was a brilliant offer on when I bought it and I am so pleased that I just bought it.

In the offer I got the Cleanse and Polish  and it really is as lovely as everyone says if you are unsure whether or not to buy it. There is also a Cleanse and Polish in Pink Pepper and Mint which has the best smell I have ever experienced. Ever. There is also a sample of their Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask and I think there were four muslin cloths which is so good especially as I got all of this for £29.00!

First lets talk about the the Limited Edition Cleanse and Polish Pink Pepper and Mint and I’m sorry but I can’t find this on their website anymore which sucks but I still want to talk about it because it might come up in the future. I have been enjoying using this in the evening, I find it relaxes me and it’s just nice to mix up my routine and try new things. I have only used the original one a couple of times but it’s just as lovely to use. It’s really gentle on my skin and that’s something I always look for in a good cleanser because I have dry skin and sometimes it gets even dryer from certain products.

I had had an awful day at work in the middle of the week and I decided to have a little pamper session and use the mask for the first time. This says it will sooth and hydrate which I thought would be really good for someone like me who suffers with dry skin.

DSCN0310 (2)

I did like this mask but there was something about it that I’m not too sure about which I’m a bit disappointed by. This mask is left on for 10-15 minutes and for about the first 5 minutes my face felt like it was stinging and not soothed at all but eventually it calmed down and wasn’t too bad. I would say it was hydrating because by the time 15 minutes was up, the majority of it had really sunk into my skin. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or not but the next day I broke out in so many spots around my chin area and I haven’t has spots there since school. I’m going to give the another try though and see if it’s any better because I was having an ‘off’ day.

Are there any other Liz Earle products I should try?

Current Scrubs I’m Using

As Summer is fast approaching I have found myself using scrubs in the shower a lot more – no one likes getting out their lizard legs. There are a few scrubs I have been loving that are all drugstore.

Sugar Scrubs

The first one is obviously going to be by Soap and Glory. I never used to like the scent of Sugar Crush scrub but lately I have actually been looking forward to using it. One of the reasons I have been using scrubs is because I have been trying to get into self tanning so have been using this in the shower three times a week; I love the texture of it because it really feels like it is getting rid of all my dry skin. I would honestly say if you haven’t tried this one you need to. It’s a lovely big pot and I probably get 6-8 uses out of one of these so for £8.00 I think it’s amazing.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Scrub

Keeping on the more Summer inspired side of things I also really enjoy using any fruit scented sugar scrubs by The Body Shop. I got loads of these for Christmas and am gradually making my way through them and the scents are amazing. I don’t think there could be much more of a Summer smell other than Summer itself. They have a lot more or a gloopy consistency compared to the Soap and Glory Scrub but once you start working it into your skin it starts to work and exfoliate your skin.

Salt Scrubs

The second Body Shop scrub I have been using is from the Spa Wisdom Africa range which is sooo amazing, I actually can’t emphasise enough how lovely this is to use.One of the reasons for this is that it leaves my skin not only feeling clean but also moisturised. I think it just feels a bit more luxurious than sugar scrubs because the granules seem finer and this is definitely buttery. The scent of this scrub is a lot more spa like, warming and relaxing so I normally use this when I am having a but ore of a pamper evening. I can’t find a link to this as I got it around Christmas time but these are from the same range.

Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Scrub

I’m classing this as a salt scrub because the salt content is a lot higher than the amount of sugar in it and this is the Soap and Glory, the Flake Away body scrub has to be my all time favourite scrub. I get through this faster than any other bath and body product I use. I know I keep going on about it but my word, the smell of this baby is just glorious. I use this everywhere on my body especially the backs of my arms because I have some really rough skin there and I find this helps with keeping it down. Again the texture of this one is a lot firmer and one thing I like about it is that because it’s quite thick it makes you really rub it into your skin which gets rid of any dead skin.

Have you been getting your skin Summer ready? Let me know what you’ve been using!
